If Spiderman is still available…

November 5, 2008 by Andrea Mrozek 1 Comment

Those who write in from time to time suggesting a focus on defining marriage makes me into a fundamentalist? You are right. I concede defeat. Move along–there’s nothing to see here.

I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world,” he wrote. “However, that seems impossible with present-day technology. Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorise marriage with a two-dimensional character?“

What purpose would such a union possibly fill? Marriage is a union between two people, two souls. It is a commitment. The only legal purpose for marriage is to give your spouse benefits. What would a cartoon character do with health benefits? People who seriously suggest allowing legal marriages to cartoon characters or dolls (no joke, this has come up too) need professional help and *real* love, not tolerance. Tolerance isn’t always love.
