Thank you for drawing my attention to this. At last I know who the Liberal leader really is. It made me lose any trust in him - if I ever had any (I have always doubted his competence in political and economic affairs).

I think that writer misunderstood what "national affairs" meant. The Toronto Star ought to come with a barf bag.

Happiness of our children should be priority number one. The pursuit of happiness is not a new topic in the US. I agree with a happiness mentor named Med Yones that the Americans tend to be more on the pursuit of unhappiness than happiness. The paper states “The ideologies and governments of this century that promised happiness, have left people with more material possessions, but less psychological well-being”. The demands of life in our current socioeconomic system require that we keep running and running with little or no breaks. With increasing life costs, economic demands, and social and work pressures, most people are suffering from chronic stress, pain, anxiety, fear or anger. Many people eventually experience this as burnout, exhaustion and/or depression. More information can be found at

I don't have a problem with people who make bad decisions. I have a problem with people who make bad decisions and justify them.

Sadly, I don't think honest men and women are likely to be the sort to seek out positions of power in great numbers. We are left instead with the ambitions of folks seeking power who get elected to run our country, provinces and cities. I'm sure this is a problem for members of all parties, but apparently this case falls on the right side for the Toronto Star.

Didn't John McCain, while running to be president of the United States of America, own to his first marriage as his greatest personal failure? He did so for a Christian audience, but even so, at least he said what had to be said at that point. At least his audience held him to his vows so that he professed a proper sense of shame.

In my church, one test for the candidacy of a prospective elder is his record as a husband and father. If he can't do a good job of managing his own family, then how will he take care of God's church? A true leader doesn't run away from his responsibilities. And if he is a man of his word--especially his vow--then he will never parade adultery.

But perhaps Mr. Ignatieff has a different perspective than the one presented here by his second wife. And she's his marketer? The emperor has no clothes!

Appalling is exactly the right word. It's so frustrating to read a glorification of what I know to be very destructive behaviour (which *does* affect the children, thank you).
