The urban rural divide

Published by at 7:21 am

An airline just for pets. And there’s a wait list already.

Clearly we really are suffering through a terrible economic downtown. The worst one since Old Yeller came out.

They’re even building condos now with pet daycare for people’s fur babies.

Honestly, I don’t see what’s so horrible about this. I’m hardly an animal rights activist, but if I had to fly my two pet cats out somewhere, I’d feel much more comfortable handing them off to a specialized airline than pumping them full of sedatives and throwing them in with the luggage. Animals aren’t people too, but they’re certainly more important than a few nick knacks you can always replace.

Now, pet day-cares, I agree, are going a little too far.

    Hi Sarah,
I’m not horrified, more bemused. All the discussion of recession and economic turmoil and trauma but it’s only a poche and well-off culture that can even conceive of such a business model. While we’re at it, if you have a pet and work 100 hours a week, you probably should use a pet daycare. Or get a pet nanny. (I’m more concerned about adopting the same strategy with children.)
