Isn’t it ironic?

May 5, 2010 by Andrea Mrozek 2 Comments

One of life’s great ironies: The Pill decreases your chance of getting pregnant by decreasing the chance that you’ll ever want to have sex.

Researchers stress they can’t prove causality. Bla bla bla. This is known information, for those who care to investigate the little pill so many of us take, ever so casually, daily.

Brigitte adds: How’s this, from the Department of Duh?

The study appears in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Editor-in-chief Irwin Goldstein, a Montreal native and director of sexual medicine at the Alvarado Hospital, University of California, San Diego, said the study shows “when you fool around with your sex steroid hormones, you gamble with your sex life.”

Wow, I never woulda tunk.

Yup. I did not expect such a huge change when I went off the Pill, but it’s the best thing I could have done for my emotional health and marriage! My husband happily agrees 🙂

I think the more I learn about birth control the more confounded I become. It was something we all started taking and there really wasn’t enough research or information out there or provided to the women (and children!) taking it. There are countless stories from women who are now unable to conceive or have other emotional or physical problems related to the pill.
In the interest of this article, I was researching the history of the pill tonight, but alas the article I found and read on ‘About.com: Women’s Health’ disclosed a Planned Parenthood source right at the end. There goes my search for unbiased information on women’s health!
