Roxanne’s Law defeated

December 15, 2010 by Andrea Mrozek 5 Comments

The bill that would have made a crime of coercing abortion has been defeated in the House of Commons by 178 to 97. Alas.

Yup. MPs and constituents not fooled by anti-abortion ‘chill’ bill. Canada is a pro-choice country. Even PM Stevie Peevie voted against it. How’s that ‘Canada without abortion. By choice’ thingy working for you?

Your point being? Pro-life have always said that Stephen Harper is not one of them.

The leftist parties are the ones who trot out the “Stephen Harper’s hidden agenda” canard every election campaign, and every ten minutes in between.

His votes show which side is trutful.

Some interesting results there in the list of how MPs voted. By far most of the Tory women supported the law (in contrast to the Mulroney caucus that had no pro-life women).

Also surprising to see Liberal Ruby Dhalla vote in favour – she hasn’t voted pro-life before.

Conversely, Liberal Judy Foote touted herself as pro-life in the 2008 election, but has voted the opposite way on both abortion-related votes.
