Loretta Westin, on How can it be right if it feels so wrong?:

In Nova Scotia, the brochures of information given to families expecting children suspected of having spina bifida emphasize the ‘reasonableness’ of abortion. This is the support the province gives to the parents ! The impression left is that if the parents go ahead with the pregnancy, they have decided to ‘go it alone’ and cannot expect much help in coping with the ‘choice’ of bringing to life a handicapped child.

We’re way past having lost our ‘conscience’ as a country. The informed Canadian conscience will decide to abort in order spare society the unnecessary hassle, money and ugliness . For the good of the community - abort. Life is the selfish choice.

(proud to be Canadian ?)

Criminalization is not the goal. EQUALITY is the goal. Criminalization is simply a by-product. Let’s not forget that.

I do believe that being a fetal rights proponent not only means wanting to change mentalities, but being an active catalyst for change by working towards stopping the carnage as soon as possible.

Carol , on The conspiracy files:

Uncle Di had a post recently about an abortion clinic in Nevada. With a little time to kill, I took a walk around their website and discovered a couple of interesting things:

1. No men are allowed past the waiting area. In one part of the site, they said it was because women might be walking around in hospital gowns so it was a modesty issue, but another area said very specifically men aren’t allowed in for ultrasounds. I’m guessing the real reason is because they might attempt to influence the mother-soon-not-to-be not to kill their kid.

2. In a statement that caused me to laugh out loud, the website is very clear: NO CHILDREN ALLOWED. I was really hoping they would add a further caveat: If you bring children with you, we will have to kill them. Would have been more honest.

Tanya Zaleski, on The conspiracy files:

This absolutely reminds me of the movie, “The Princess Bride.”

The evil Humperdink nurses our leading man, Westley, back to health, insisting he must be in optimal health before they begin to torture and subsequently kill him.

In the movie, Westley cheats death, overcomes all odds, and storms the castle to rescue the fair princess Buttercup (and then there’s a lot of kissing).

In real life, however, even if ultrasound were potentially harmful to the unborn life (as the only speculations of any risk have always been to the fetus’ inner ear), it may be the only thing to save his or her little life.

How thoughtful; these valiant opponents of the “medical right” would have the fetus in optimal health before having it subjected to dismemberment and death.
