It will take a heck of a lot more than that to restore my lack of faith in the UN, but I’m still pleased about this:
UNITED NATIONS — Iran failed Wednesday to secure a seat on the board running the new UN super agency for women in the face of a fierce diplomatic onslaught against its rights record.

See, I don’t think it’s good they were denied. I think that denying them sets women in that country back because we need to engage countries like Iran and involve them in dialogue – not just say we don’t think you’re good enough to come to the table.
The best thing that could happen to the UN is having someone take it out back and dropping them in the trash can. They are so far past their best before date you can get poisoned just thinking about them.
