I like what James O’Keefe did in the past, especially that famous sting operation on ACORN. I’m not too sure what this is about, but I don’t like what it looks like one bit.

UPDATE: Reader Maryann sends this, which suggests the story might be less embarrassing for O’Keefe than the first reports indicated. I certainly hope so.

So, Brigitte, you still haven’t learned to wait for all the facts before jumping with the MSM to an asinine conclusion? You really thought the WaPo wouldn’t overreach on a law enforcement story involving James O’Keefe? You really thought that someone capable of the ACORN sting would think that wiretapping is a great stunt?
Brigitte Pellerin says
Well, actually, Lauri, I waited a full day before posting about it. And I did say, quite clearly, that I didn’t know much about the story. I like to practice good political hygiene, and this means I don’t give people I otherwise like a free pass. I do hope there is an innocent explanation, but if there isn’t I don’t want to be complacent about it. I bitch about the Left being complacent when someone on their side does something dumb, I’m not about to start emulating them. Fair’s fair.

I didn’t say anything about giving him a pass. I think the stunts he pulls stray very close to the line between ethical and unethical, if not always that between legal or illegal. My argument is that care should be taken in passing judgment until all the facts are in. I was responding to your comment, “I don’t like what it looks like one bit”, which to my mind gave no credit to the evidence of what we actually know about O’Keefe and too much, considering what we know, to the Washington Post.
