A poignant point

May 16, 2009 by Andrea Mrozek 3 Comments

I thought this was a good point–in an article actually about the Tamil demonstrations:

But if anyone needs proof that trafficking is the answer to the question of very effective protesting, they need only have watched a huge but quiet protest against Canada’s 40-year-old abortion laws held on Parliament Hill on Thursday, which included a non-disruptive march around Ottawa streets.  Number of questions raised in the Commons or headlines posted in the media about their pro-life campaign to save the unborn from what they perceive as an illegal slaughter: Zero.

    Protests and marches are useless.

The only excuse I can give them is there could be a lot of protests that escape the attention of the press, and to them this is just another one of those causes they can overlook. If that is the case, the Pro-Life cause isn’t necessarily one they are trying to bury: it is only one of many they are completely apathetic towards.

I really don’t know if that is the case, but it still angers me they’d cover smaller protests over silly issues rather than this one.

According to Colby Cosh’s logic, aren’t the people who ignore these peaceful protests responsible for the consequences if any protestor ever turns non-peaceful?
