Not to boast, but I have cool friends. One of them is a Vietnam vet (USMC) who lives in Southern California. He’s also a biker, with political opinions I would describe as most incorrect. (We get along just fine, me and him.)
Anyway. He’s about to embark on this really neat thing called Run for the Wall, in which bikers ride to Washington DC to honour the sacrifices and contributions of all military personnel. And like all bikers, he wears a vest full of patches. His newest one (right shoulder) says: “Where would you be if your parents believed in abortion?” I think it’s lovely. So off you go, Mark, and have a safe ride.

Brigitte, thank you for your comments. Additionally, and as important as: the Run for the Wall is also to call attention to the lack of government involvement in the POW MIA issue. Not too many people are aware of the statistics, 78,750 missing from World War II, 8,177 from Korea and about 1,350 from Vietnam. (is it not sad that they have to say, ABOUT, I bet if it was your brother, father, uncle, you would not like that phrasing). And this hits close to home. My wife’s uncle William Eisenbraun, is listed on the first panel of the Vietnam Wall. He was reported MIA, Then POW, and now Kia, whereabouts unknown. Last year in Virginia, we listened to a 88 year old father talk about how his son was declared dead in 1974, shot down in Cambodia after a mission over Vietnam, and was contacted by our Embassy in 1994, with reports that his son was in fact still alive and being held captive. His pleas to the White House and Congress were ignored. This along with a number of other reported incidents are why we ride. Rolling Thunder which occurs on Memorial Day, with 630,000 motorcycles from all over the United States and Canada, ride through the mall in D.C. For 23 years this event has happened every Memorial Day, unfortunately, the roar of 630,000 motorcycles is not enough to wake the conscience of our esteemed elected leaders, what a shame.

I had no idea that this issue even existed. Unbelievable, and I definitely agree that if it were one’s own family member it would be incredibly hurtful to have them sidelined and “estimated” in that way.
BTW, I abosolutely love the prolife patch, and the patch that reads “They’re not the 10 suggestions.”
Wish I could get a bumper sticker version of those!
