A baby by any other name is still a baby…

May 23, 2014 by Johanne Brownrigg 1 Comment

I found this to be a particularly touching reality check. Sadly we’ve heard of the women who suffer in silence after an abortion, but as always, there is the unexpected fall out with cultural changes. What a sensitive disclosure.

Just in time Trudeau

May 10, 2014 by Johanne Brownrigg 3 Comments

Just in time Trudeau.

There still are pro-life voters who are Liberal. Though they have not been made to feel welcome, at least someone held the door open for them. Not so anymore. Now those pro-life voters have to choose. I’m pro-choice when it comes to most everything, as is the law. But just like in law, I have limits when it comes to what is chosen. What Justin Trudeau did for the pro-life movement is to clarify at what cost abortion proponents are prepared to go. Many of us knew it was radically far but now all Canadians know.

The Liberal Party of Canada was not the socialist party of Canada. I guess because socialism is a thin line away from communism, the NDP approach to freedom of conscience hasn’t raised an eyebrow in this country, though it should have.

Justin Trudeau has drawn a line in the sand. Too bad he tripped over it. He made his announcement just in time for the National March for Life and it immediately increased media coverage enormously. Thank you. He also made his announcement just in time for candidate nominations. We are grateful for that too.

Liberals were still under the delusion theirs was the party of choice because it defined social justice in terms liberals approved of, in terms liberals could feel better about themselves. Certainly a conservative couldn’t understand social justice like a liberal, they thought. So, the Liberal Party of Canada was their party of choice.
Whether or not all Liberals will understand the cost of MPs losing a fundamental freedom like the freedom of conscience, remains to be seen. Whether or not Liberals understand their party of choice no longer resembles the great Liberal party of the past, remains to be seen as well. Whether or not liberals consider the Liberal Party of Canada their party of choice going forward…I think Trudeau’s announcement was just in time.

The truth is…

May 4, 2014 by Johanne Brownrigg Leave a Comment

There are many ways to approach the prolife argument. They vary from the purely rational to the purely emotional. We have biology, psychology, spirituality on our side. Every so often though, these all come together in one form or another and the truth is stark. There is no dressed up pretty little truth, only the cold truth. This story is just one example.

A 15 year old foster child is sexually assaulted by her foster father. This, after having been moved to 28 different foster homes in 2 years. No one believed her. She got pregnant. She didn’t choose abortion. Her pregnancy revealed the ugly truth, her truth.

The pregnancy is the means by which a horrible man is stopped. The story doesn’t end there. Read the details here: http://www.ottawasun.com/2014/05/03/woman-sues-ccas-foster-dad-who-got-her-pregnant

This week the biggest prolife event in the country will happen on Parliament Hill. The theme is RU-4LIFE?  The theme is a deliberate counter to the application for RU 486,  a poison pill.

There is no magic pill that will erase the difficulty of a crisis pregnancy. Sometimes there is only a bitter pill: the truth. And the truth can set you free.
