Mobs of upset parents whose children are less than geniuses bombard the Magic Kingdom for full refund. Reason: Baby Einstein videos don’t raise your kids’ IQs.
This news has rocked the parenting world, which had embraced the videos as a miraculous child-rearing staple. Videos that make your kid smarter while you prepare dinner? Genius! … Still, the idea that a caper this big could be pulled off…is mind-boggling. Disney’s refund is about as close as we’re going to get to an actual admission that we were sold snake oil, and it casts a pall over the other “educational” toys out there.
Man, we’re dumb.

Yes, parents are dumb. They have very powerful instincts to protect and nurture their children, and these instincts can easily overwhelm more rational thought.

Suricou, were you raised by robots? That said, I feel like Wall-E has more compassion than you. It’s an honest question, based on your comment here.

That kind of made me laugh when I saw it on the news last night. I kind of saw that one coming miles and miles away. You mean our babies won’t end up geniuses if we let the television raise them?
I suppose next we’ll find out that those custom CDs you can get where every song is about your baby ends up causing children to have some sort of narcissistic personality disorder.
Suricou Raven says
I have compassion for those who deserve it. Not idiots who buy into highly dubious and unsubstantiated marketing claims.
El says
Anyone dumb enough to think a DVD would make a genius out of a child deserves to lose his or her money. Really. Pathetic.
Suricou Raven says
See, El agrees with me :>
