It died so long ago, that it may seem out of place to mourn. But the behaviour of the captain on the Costa Concordia makes me sad in so many ways. And lest we blame men, let’s not forget, this is exactly what feminists wanted: every (wo)man for her/himself.

Having lived through enough to have experienced both the hard learning of chivalry and in later years the mocking of being chivalrous I see that as nothing in comparison to the idea that chivalry has died.
Costa Concordia was impressive and beautiful ship, but however the collision with it was important for the whole cruise shipping. In any case we should get our answers for the disaster with the vessel and the officers to be more careful with maneuvering and navigation.
