So by now we’ve all heard about the Nova Scotia teenager who was suspended for wearing a t-shirt that says, “Life is wasted without Jesus.”
If I were him, I’d comply and take the t-shirt off.
The next day I’d wear my pro-guns t-shirt. Followed up by an anti-Occupier t-shirt, followed up by a “Stop Global Whining” t-shirt. Then, of course, I’d be sure to find an anti-abortion t-shirt that was particularly strident, and put that on for good measure. Rinse, repeat.
There’s no limit to the offensive Ts that can be found on this here thing called the Internet.
Dear school administrator: Abortion stops a beating heart. Have a nice day.
What is it about these staff that demand perfect and total conformity? Oh wait, that’s their business: to make kids conform. To squash the really creative ones. To diagnose the really active ones with ADD. But let’s make sure we expand our school system to include toddlers.

Good rant. My favorite all time t-shirt; ‘Don’t you should on me’.
As the mother of one of his fellow students I think you may want to hear the rest of the story.
William, who is attending Grade 12 for the 3rd time this year, has been a harassing student for some time. Just like the Mormon door to door salespeople who wake you up and try to sell you God at your home on weekends, he accosts students anywhere he can pin them down and berates them with his message especially if they say stop it and returns daily to do it all over again.
A group of kids told him the shirt was the last straw and offensive they also informed him they would not be offended if it said faith as opposed to Jesus. He replied that faith implies choice and people could choose badly. Only Jesus or they would all burn in hell, yes he has said this on more then one occasion.
He is disruptive and these kids have had enough they too have Rights and Freedoms under the charter and want it to stop so they can enjoy their graduating year and move on to University, yes my son at least has already been accepted. More then 60% of the students want him gone and have for some time as he is an offensive, bullying, insulting, Christian right-winger who also can’t string together more then 4 words without a grammar error. The boy is parroting what has been drilled into him since birth and refuses to discuss or debate – two things that are the basis of free speech.
The press has not been completely forthcoming with the story to date.
AGREED! I went to go look up the address of this kids school to write a letter and stumbled upon your blog. I used to volunteer at a crisis pregnancy center and prolife advocating is a HUGE passion of mine. There are protests down the street from where I live every weekend between the prolifers and the prochoicers.
anyway on the topic of William Swinimer..although this person’s antics do seem to be a little “in your face”, you have to give this guy credit for his boldness. As a fellow believer and Christian I admire the boldness this young person has, even if he could use some softening.
I’d like to see what would happen if the T shirt said, “Life is waisted by believing in the religion of Darwinism!”
Yes, Swinimer is bold and he stood up to a system that has been systematically squashing religious, especially Christian, expression for decades. Yes, he could be softer in his message but, like it or not, his message is true.
Hate is not what we hate to hear! I wish people could understand this! Hate incites violence toward a person or group of people.
The other side of the story is that people don’t snap their fingers and, paff, they are perfect Christians. As people develop their faith, by exercising it, they discover things about themselves that need changing. They develop the “Fruit of the Spirt” (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control {Galatians 5:22-23}). Does every Christian possess all of these qualities? No … but they usually appear to increase throughout a person’s lifetime as people develop greater understanding of the character and nature of God. God is not finished with us yet.
The point is the people get angry at the message of the gospel because they do not want to believe they will go to hell without Jesus. They ignore the warnings and pretend that all will be OK … just like a child that hides from everyone else be putting his hands in front of his eyes. They seem to think that a good and loving God would not send them to hell because they are “a good person”. They forget that God is also just and cannot let sin go unpunished. But, He is a forgiving God for those who recognize their sin, repent (turn away from it) and start to follow Jesus. Just because we are not perfect does not make us any less Christian. We go on the promise of grace.
