The Opposition motion to include abortion in the government’s maternal health initiative failed. 144 against, 138 in favour.
These motions have no real impact, so far as I know, but they make a clear public statement. And this is one the Opposition felt, I’m quite sure, they would win.
Bottom line: Abortion activists just lost a battle. And that’s always VERY GOOD NEWS!

That seems like a narrow margin of victory, but I’m still happy with the outcome!

When was the last time pro-life had any legislative victories in Canada? Generally, good news. Of course, a significant number of the votes on the CPC side were to ‘not reopen the debate’, and are not, thus, pro-life.

Where’s the companion filial health initiative?

It’s just so funny that we’re having votes about abortion, discussion about abortion, and making political stands around abortion but NO ONE is saying that the debate is so obviously alive and kicking!!!
Funny…and frustrating…
