This joint letter, publicized by Priests for Life, puts forward the idea that with the Gosnell trial, it is the entire abortion industry that is actually on trial.
Agree? Disagree? Is this a trial of the entire abortion industry?
Although only one abortionist is being prosecuted today, the entire abortion industry is on trial.
I tend to agree. Because the sanitary, “safe” abortions are also chilling to me. This will come as no great surprise, but every time I walk past an abortion clinic, I am entirely unable to accept the fact that we have small centres dotting this great country, that have the sole purpose of snuffing out lives.
I am constantly amazed that the hard questions are simply not being asked by the media. Who is asking President Obama, who refused to vote for the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, if he is re-thinking his stance on late-term abortion?
And who is getting statements from the American Medical Association, who was reluctant to support the Partial Birth Abortion Ban? I would love, love LOVE to hear a representative explain the differences between partial birth abortion and what Gosnell was doing, and why one was a medical procedure, decided by a woman and her doctor, and the other is a horrid crime, potentially worthy of the death penalty.
I don’t think the various medical associations should be able to wash their hands of Gosnell so easily. Doctors usually stand up for their own, and they must absolutely be peeing themselves in worry about the third degree murder charge for medical incompetence here. How often does a doctor get charged for murder when a medical procedure goes wrong and a patient dies? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of another case–usually the AMA just makes those cases go away.
Actually, the only other time I’ve ever heard of doctors being charged for murder was if the procedure they were performing itself was illegal. (In the times where abortions were illegal, doctors were pretty much only charged for performing abortions when they killed or maimed a patient. ( http://realchoice.blogspot.ca/ is a good place to go to find more information on this.) So I’ve got to ask this question: was the abortion that killed Karnamaya Mongar (sp?) an illegal abortion? Gosnell did perform legal (although unsanitary) abortions in his clinic as well.
