Here at ProWomanProLife sometimes we remember days like St. Patrick’s Day and Valentine’s Day and such, and sometimes we don’t. In 2008, I posted about the more serious side of St. Patrick. In 2009, Tanya posted the Muppets singing Danny Boy. Both are important and either will do to wish a Happy St. Patrick’s Day for 2011. (2010 got left out. Two out of three ain’t bad.)

Patrick, through the sheer force of his convication, converted a dangerous group of pagans to Christianity. The Christian communities in turn established monasteries, where the monks in their scriptoriums copied the works of classical Greek and Roman authors. In this way, the heritage of western civilization was preserved in Ireland, while barbarian invaders decimated the cultural heritage of Europe.
