Margaret Wente asks this question in her column today.
I’ll get the discussion started with a little debate statement.
BIRT it is okay to kill girls when a North American feminist advocates for this on the grounds of free choice but not okay when someone does so because of cultural dictates for son preference. Talk amongst yourselves.

Melissa says
Wow. You’re not mincing words today, are you Andrea?
Andrea Mrozek says
Sorry. Coming down with a cold and I lose my filter.
Melissa says
Understood. Feel better soon.
Mary says
Actually, it’s MARGARET WENTE who isn’t mincing words. “Is it okay to abort girls” is the title of her column.
Cynthia M. says
Perhaps Margaret didn’t mince words. But Andrea called a spade a spade.
Pro-choice advocates like to cloak their dialogues with less offensive words like “choice” and yes – even “abortion”. But if you want to be brutally honest, abortion = killing. Those who advocate for abortion prefer that the “kill” word is kept quiet. “I believe in a woman’s right to choose” actually means “I believe in a woman’s right to choose to kill her child”. So Margaret used ‘factual’ language in her column’s title. But Andrea…she was honest.
