I don’t think it takes a doctrinal expert to know that Catholics for Choice is a bit like Vegetarians for Meat. Come on. Really? You guys have been spending too much time with Nancy Pelosi. And on that note, I think it bears adding that this isn’t an active Canadian group, so far as I can tell.
Anyway, they are criticizing the maternal health mandate. I think it serves their purposes to do so, as part of the healthcare debate south of the border.

Don’t you love the dogmatic statements “Catholics” for Choice (sorry about the scare quotes, but a can’t bring myself to let their use of the word Catholic go unchallenged) make?
“It is a basic human right and a matter of social justice to provide women and men access to family planning and abortion services”.
and from Hilary Clinton:
“You cannot have maternal health without reproductive rights,” she said at a news conference of a G8 Foreign Ministers meeting in Gatineau, Que. “And reproductive health includes contraception, and family planning and access to legal, safe abortion.”
Where is their data backing this up? Why, oh why do these women think that it is a compassionate option to offer an abortion to a poor, pregnant woman? And just how do they think they are going to provide safe abortions in countries that have very few trained medical personnel, and limited access to basic medical supplies?
