I assume this means she is back in jail. Once again, for all the charges that “pro-lifers want to put women in jail for having abortions” the only people in jail today over this issue are pro-lifers:
Six police officers took part in the arrest, including the sheriff and his deputy who ordered the arrest after Gibbons did not respond to their requests to obey the injunction and leave the area. Gibbons was read the injunction and led to the squad car peacefully. While in years past she sat immobile causing officers to carry her to the vehicle, the 69-year-old grandmother walked with them this morning.
Comments on the story are interesting. Julie Culshaw writes:
Perhaps the 20 Show the Truth people should have stepped in beside Linda and got themselves arrested too. Then this would make real news and something might actually happen. Until then…..
Alex Vernon replies:
Julie, at least the STT people were there. I don’t think it was necessary for them to place themselves in the line of arrest for “Things to happen”. Their witness speaks plenty. God be with you Linda.
I tend to think if there is to be any news around this issue of Linda Gibbons constantly being hauled off to jail for freedom of expression and conscience–things our society claims to value–then we are going to need a more media savvy effort around this. 20 or more women silently protesting inside the bubble zone, the whole thing filmed, press releases to major media outlets… would be a story, and bog down the courts, to boot. My concern is that Linda is being martyred here and no one knows about it.
Still, I hold her in great respect because this is something she has to do, and I believe history will show her to be a great hero.

I agree with you. History will show her to be a great hero.
Linda said in an interview a month ago:
“when we begin to suffer for the unborn, our identification with them, that’s when we are going to impact society, when they see that.”
Right now, Linda is the only one suffering any difficult consequences for her actions; by herself, she will just be a solo act, and those with power in Canada will just leave her on the back burner. In jail, she poses no threat to them at all.
Julie, you beat me to the punch on that quote. Linda seems to realize the good her own solitary suffering can do for the cause of the unborn, even apart from the public witness she is providing. Imagine the public impact if we had 50 or 100 people going to jail each time, though, rather than one?
that’s exactly what should happen, Pat. This is how Martin Luther King brought public attention to the issue of human rights. One woman shut away in jail is not going to change anything, those in power simply ignore her once she is arrested. They could not ignore 100 people though.
The witness of Linda Gibbons, Mary Wagner and others is a testament to the willingness of a few to accept the consequences of standing for truth. Imagine if two year old children were being killed at the rate the unborn are in Canada today. Would there be 100 people willing to go to jail in protest of that killing? Let us be perfectly honest when we admire the courage of Linda nd others. Either we don’t think their strategy is effective or we are not convinced the unborn are completely human. 20 + years ago thousands of pro-lifers stood in the entrances of abortion mills and placed their lives on the line for the unborn. The authorities responded with greater and greater punishments and even introduced legislation to shut our efforts down. We meekly went back into our usual pro-life efforts and “allowed” the killing to go on.
If 100 dedicated pro-lifers were to follow Linda and Mary Wagner and stand or sit in front of the abortion mill today, nothing would change but the population of the jail cells.
