That’s an Angus Reid headline, not mine. See the poll results, here.
Most interesting to me is the wrong information floating around:
byOnly one-in-five Canadians (20%) are aware of the current status-quo of abortion in Canada: a woman can have an abortion at any time during her pregnancy, with no restrictions whatsoever. A large proportion of respondents (43%) mistakenly believe that, under current guidelines, a woman can have an abortion only during the first three months of her pregnancy, with no other restrictions. Two other incorrect responses also garnered mentions. Ten per cent of Canadians think a woman can have an abortion at any time during her pregnancy, but only if her life is in danger, if she has been the victim of rape, or if the fetus has serious defects, and 14 per cent believe a woman can only have an abortion during the first three months of her pregnancy, and only if her life is in danger, if she has been the victim or rape, or if the fetus has serious defects.

Andrea, I am new to your site, and am quite astounded at some of the information I find posted here. I guess I am like most other Canadians who really don’t get passionate about (Canadian) politics or the issues of the day, like out neighbors to the south. Just look at the passion and excitement in MA with the underdog Scott Brown. I love how so many people get involved and take to the streets and halls.
These issues just never come to the table and become national, have we become so complacent , do we not care, has abortion become so widely accepted. I had no idea that
we offered women late term abortion. I think that the work you do here can help foster a movement. More articles, interviews on national television need to made in order for us to realize where some of our tax dollars are going. Here I am following the healthcare debate in the States commiserating with the folks who don’t want to see there tax dollars paying for abortions ,yet here in Canada it is just so.
I would like to see any links to articles about abortion in Canada as they appear in our national papers posted on your site, that way we can write letters to the editor.
Again Thank you
Maryann
