Animal Freedom Day is coming up on July 24. Apparently animals are saying: “Don’t eat me!” This is very pressing, especially considering July is the height of BBQ season. So many will gather around steaks, ribs slathered in sauce, peach chicken with a hint of soya, salmon on cedar planks…
Where was I? Right. Animal Freedom Day.
Unfortunately, I will not be around. Hate to get all sanctimonious on these folks, but I’ll be away with World Hope Canada–call ’em Human Freedom Days–at this time. But consider buying a t-shirt to celebrate?

I prefer to free animals from the burdens of this earthly life. And eat them.
Thoughtful, Deborah. Very thoughtful.
Animals need love and protection too!
I try not to eat much meat, I like furry things, I think how we treat animals can be an indicator of how we’ll treat others, but when it comes to a cause to fight/work/live for… I’ll take people please.
I agree with you on that. Isn’t it true that there is often a pattern in serial killers that lots of them started out as children harming small animals and stuff? Or maybe I just watch too much CSI/Mentalist/Criminal Minds . . .
I LOVE animals and have to kept away from even the rattiest, angriest looking dogs on the street. I have one question for PETA supporters and their ovo-lacto friends: Are you pro-life?
That reminds me of a Jay Leno Headline a few years back.
