Two things I’m interested in here. What was it before? (Chances are they never asked the question but my money would be on fewer men believing it is OK to assault a woman in “the olden days,” for lack of a better term) and secondly, did they ask how many women think it is OK to hit a man? Because when relationships go sour, we see plenty of that, too.
An equally valid headline (but certainly not as helpful to the women’s shelter crowd) would be “90% of Alberta men think it’s wrong to hit women.”
I find it hard to take these groups seriously when they continue to pretend that men are always the abusers and women the victims. There is ample evidence that both men and women hit, slap, throw things and lose control in domestic disagreements. For those in the industry to ignore this fact is dishonest and unfair.
Barbara Kay of the National Post is an excellent resource on this issue.
