Oh yes, that’s of course entirely true

October 8, 2009 by Brigitte Pellerin 2 Comments

Taking the Pill apparently makes women like girlier men. Says so right here… I think.

Scientists say the hormones in the oral contraceptive suppress a woman’s interest in masculine men and make boyish men more attractive. Although the change occurs for just a few days each month, it may have been highly influential since use of the Pill began more than 40 years ago.

I dunno. I’ve been off the Pill for many years now, so perhaps that explains why I am extremely fond of manly men such as Sean Connery or Gerard Butler.

But I’m also not entirely indifferent to Johnny Depp or that new kid, Zac Efron. Right, then, scientists, another puzzle for you to solve.

Well, at least Johnny Depp plays a manly swaggeringly handsome pirate in movies. How can you resist that?

No no, I have two different categories of men. The pretty boys and the ones who are swoon-worthy. The ones who are swoon-worthy are the manly-men. There’s nothing wrong with appreciating the pretty boys for being pretty, of course, because they’re nice to look at and probably nice, polite people, but when the rubber meets the road, they’re not going to beat up bad guys for me and be manly. Or make me swoon.

I’m somewhat skeptical about this. They listed, by one source, Will Smith under the “girly men” category and I can’t help wondering on what planet it is that Will Smith is a “girly man.”
