We’re pro-life women, yet were not severe and angry-looking! Shocking! And even if Parliament won’t permit a democratic debate about sex-selection abortion and discrimination against women, you can bet that we will.

Thanks to Rebecca for the awesome DefendGirls.ca t-shirts.
Did you know Andrea Mrozek is an award-winning model? She won the 2011 Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest and left the competition in her dust. Below, she models Blue Steel.
She recently confided in me that Zoolander’s Blue Steel is her main modelling inspiration. She clearly nailed the look. You go girl!

I’ve gotta say, I’m kind of wondering what there is to debate about sex-selection abortion. Tell me what I’m missing here, ’cause I really don’t see how aborting someone just because he or she is of the wrong sex has any place at all in a civilized society. Seems to me that, if we can’t condemn this as wrong, then we have no business condemning anything else at all as wrong. This is a no-brainer, isn’t it?
Doesn’t have to mean that there be sanctions against the doctors who perform female feticide, or the women who undergo them. Doesn’t mean that we would have to make an example of anyone. What it WOULD do, though, is provide an out for a doctor to refuse to perform an abortion that he was uncomfortable performing.
I know Canadians are supposed to be polite. But this politeness at all costs, this refusing to speak up against something that we all know is wrong, wrong, wrong!…it is not going to end well. As a society, our job is to stand up for those who are unable to stand up for themselves. When our politicians flat out refuse to stand up against the most blatant example of gender-based violence that this country has to offer (and we all know that abortions happen here for the reasons of sex-selection) then why should we have any confidence at all in them?
