Small, emphasis on small, protests in support of using government funds to keep a private abortion clinic open in New Brunswick happened this past weekend.
Small groups of pro-choice protesters rallied in Montreal and Ottawa today in support of women in New Brunswick after the announcement earlier this month that the province’s only private abortion clinic would be shut down.
There are no news items I can see from the “rally” on Parliament Hill. Which would, I assume, mean that one was smaller than the five people we see here in Montreal.
Vicki Saporta of the National Abortion Federation in the USA is getting involved from Washington DC. People in New Brunswick believe this clinic is being used as a PR stunt to change New Brunswick’s law. When Vicki gets involved I’m inclined to agree.

Okay. How come when two prochoicers show up to protest, the paper prints it as “in support of women”, but when hundreds or even thousands of prolifers show up in support of women AND their children, those same papers talk about the three prochoice counterprotesters?
Sheesh. Wish we could get the publicity that they do.
