I’m sure the title led you to believe there would be some hot babe in this post. And so there is, just more literal. Beautiful baby, apparently with a modelling career. But I always feel a little sad when I see people with Down Syndrome, because I know so many of them didn’t make it into the world.

Thanks Andrea.
That’s exactly what I was thinking when reporters were gushing about this cute baby, as were people in the fashion industry.
I thought to myself, how many of you people think it’s ok to have an abortion when one is carrying a Downs’ baby?
Does using this model make us more sensitive?
Does it make women stop and think before having an abortion?
“Does it make women stop and think before having an abortion?”
I think so. Because this baby is so beautiful and smiley, like all babies are. It highlights how she is a baby, a small person, perfect in her own way. The moms aborting because of Downs aren’t allowed to see this side. Instead they are read a list of odds on what their baby will and won’t be able to do, decreased lifespan, etc.
I would think a broad public awareness campaign about not aborting babies for Downs would decrease the abortion rate on that. Much like broad public awareness campaigns decreased the rate of smoking, or drinking while pregnant, for example.
I think what would help with changing that mindset is to have testimonies of parents who have raised children with down’s syndrome. If they could make some videos and put them online, that would be great because, for the most part, the liberal media wont put stories, like this, on TV. As a parent, you go through some difficult and frustrating times with a handicapped child, especially early on, but it makes you stronger and wiser because of the experience. Better parents is the result and I believe that wisdom needs to be imparted with others that are expecting a handicapped child. It might be tough for a parent to make a video about this subject, but it will be well worth it… for everybody! Thanks!

I would love to see public broadcasting ads about this as you write Andrea. Problem is, the creators would probably have to avoid ‘certain language’ so as not to ‘offend’ the pro-abortion side. Funny how we say we live in a free society and freedom of speech is cherished when quite frankly it really depends on what you are saying.
