And that’s no Bologna, according to this columnist (I couldn’t resisit the pun).
byIt’s really too bad the idea of the university has apparently run its course, a ship smashed to splinters on the rocks of political correctness.
Universities have had a good long run.
The very first was organized in Bologna and the first reference to it is an imperial decree from Frederick Barbarossa in 1158…
As they developed, universities taught the use of logical, dispassionate observation to investigate nature — thanks, Aristotle! — which conflicted, of course, with the position of the dominant social and political force of the time, the Roman Catholic Church.
Over the years, schools became a place where the struggle between divergent opinions was not only tolerated but encouraged, in the hope of determining what was true and what was real, because it was conflicts between points of view that helped define truth.
Of course, the concept of truth itself is long dead in universitiy administration, so what were we expecting?

After years of letting those on the hard Left have positions at the UN, as university administrators and in policy think-tanks, why are we so surprised at the outcome?

Jose Ruba, who is co-director of the GAP campaign just paid us a visit here in Halifax. He had a talk at St. Mary’s University which was disrupted by pro choice students and non-students (basically agitators). Security even called the metro police to quell the disturbance and they threatened people with arrest. This spooked the administration and they shut the talk down.
Jose hadn’t even begun his talk, when the protestors were chanting “racist, sexist, pro life men, go away, when you get pregnant, you can stay.” They also chanted “hate-speech” which concerns me that CCBR might get slapped with the Human Rights Commission nonsense. That would necessitate a call to Ezra for sure.
Pro choice agitators don’t allow anyone else any choice except theirs. They don’t even have the decency to allow a speaker to give his presentation. They basically made themselves look like idiots and the university looked like a sham institute of higher education that won’t even allow free speech.
