This is where journalists really need to be taking up some slack. CPS (Crown Protective Services) was the body who decided not to prosecute. The people in CPS who made this decision need to be named, and they need to be asked to account for their decision. The Attorney General should be named and held to account as well. These people work for the public–they should be held accountable to the public for their decisions.
I find it strange that CPS seems to be passing the buck to the British Medical Association (GMC) expecting them to discipline their doctor for his criminal activity. But since they have passed the buck, some pressure should also be put on the leaders in the GMC to discipline their doctors.
What do you think a suitable penalty should be for agreeing to commit female feticide? I personally don’t care if they get more than a slap on the wrist, frankly, I think having your name published in the paper in connection with something so horrible, and he subsequent ruin of reputation is punishment enough. But there needs to be some push back from the public on this, otherwise female feticide will just be something hat happens under he table, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, and doctors won’t give it too much second thought.
