A sort of meandering column on what it means to be a feminist.
I suppose the problem on the anti-abortion versus pro-abortion front is that you can’t have it both ways. And both sides say they are defending women. I know I am: defending a woman’s health, her wholeness, her potential, her acceptance in society with or without children.
The problem is that those who defend abortion say exactly the same thing.

Except that the abortion supporters are against the wall when the post-abortive woman explains to the world that she is a mess. And there are more and more of them willing to say so, they will be the greatest proponents to the pro-life side when they are numerous enough to be a number to contend with. Not quite there yet, but there are a lot of women silently hurting. Time and the need to speak will bring them out.
I hate, hate HATE how abortion has become some sort of litmus test for feminism. Since I was a teenager I’ve been a feminist and pro-life. When you talk to pro-choicers they’re all convinced that pro-life is really a conspiracy to oppress women and punish them for having sex, and that sadly often sets the tone of the argument. 🙁
