Why it’s hard for me to go to the movies

February 14, 2013 by Andrea Mrozek 9 Comments

I go to the movies often enough because good friends ask and it seems sociable to say yes. I generally have a running commentary going on in the back of my head that goes a little bit like this fake trailer. And I truly couldn’t stand The Notebook. Enjoy.

Check out the Titanic fake trailer, too. Quite good.

    THIS IS GREAT!

I don’t mind the occasional rom-com but refuse to watch The Notebook and most everything by Nicholas Sparks (though I was forced to watch “A Walk to Remember” as a teenager…)… This is partly to spare others from hearing me give a running commentary that would sound quite a bit like the trailer…

Yes, Rebecca, there is nothing quite so annoying as the friend who can’t shut up if someone actually enjoys these sorts of movies. Which plenty of my friends do. I’m not sure how/when to break to them that I love them but I just can’t do this anymore. These movies are HOURS of MY LIFE I can never get back!! 🙂

I have a truce with some friends. They make fun of my movies so I get to make fun of theirs. I.e. they make fun of the fact that I never bothered watching Titanic all the way through (I didn’t like it and I knew how it was going to end!) and I bemoan the fact that they have not watched Star Wars (*gasp*). 🙂

Oh my, that was funny. And now I don’t have to see the film! When you’ve been weaned on 19th C. novels, it’s really hard to stomach most screenplays these days. Just. So. Bad.

I’m delighted to learn I’m not the only one who couldn’t sit all the way through Titanic…
